Stainless steel water bottles are a dime a dozen nowadays. You can find them in just about any store these days. However, quality is always suspect for all these no-name brands. A lot of them are super thin and you’re never really quite sure of the quality of the metal and of the paint used. Some of them eventually leak and show signs of rust. This is why I decided to splurge a little and go with the name brand Klean Kanteen. First, not a lot of manufacturers make the 40 oz size. Second, a well made stainless steel bottle will last a lifetime.

Like other stainless steel water bottles, the Klean Kanteen is also made in China, but you would never be able to tell. It is made of a thicker sheet of stainless steel with a uniform matte finish. The bottom of the bottle curves nicely (whereas my generic has a sharp edge) and the lip is also rounded nicely. Well worth the money. The only warning I would mention is that the 40 oz bottle is rather hefty. Those with smaller hands will have to drink out of it using both hands.
